At Southern Harford County Rotary, we are making a difference in the lives of the youth in our service area!
The Southern Harford County Rotary (SHCR) Club is able to assist charitable organizations and to give scholarships through the money it raises from events. SHCRC has made a difference in our community over the past several years.

Past Grant Recipients
2019
Harford Family House will serve a minimum of 15 families from the Southern Harford County area over the course of the year. These families will be provided with case management services, assistance with employment, educational programs and/or family oriented activities.

The EPICENTER will provide 20-30 southern Harford County parents with the knowledge and confidence to find and maintain gainful work, which will enable both themselves and their children to enjoy greater financial security and a more optimal quality of life.

2018
Greater Excellence in Education Foundation (GEEF) wishes to address is the 'Summer Slide'- a term that suggests a fun-filled day at an amusement park, but actually describes the regression of aptitude and skills amongst students over the summer months. While low-income students make as much progress in reading as middle-income students during the school year, the poorer children's reading skills significantly decline or completely regress over the summer months. Requesting $5,000 for the Books In Hand program.

The problem for southern Harford County children or their families Edgewood Boys & Girls Club wishes to address is the health and wellness of its members. Through the program Triple Play: A Game Plan for the Mind, Body & Soul we will strive to improve the overall health of Club members ages 6-18 by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships. Requesting $1,800.00 for to help outfit the learning center room.

Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna (Habitat, HHS) wishes to address is neighborhood stabilization by increasing home values and decreasing vacancies and foreclosure rates in Edgewood's First Harford Square neighborhood. Requesting $2,500.00 for Brush with Kindness.

Beyond Limits is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide advocacy services to families of children with disabilities in Maryland to help ensure that each child gets the education he or she deserves. Beyond Limits will provide education consultations in which help develop an educational plan for the child tailored to their specific needs.

The Extreme Youth Leadership Program helps southern Harford County children receive instruction in character and leadership development, violence prevention, and making healthy choices. Youth in the leadership program get together monthly and are trained, mentored, and given opportunities to learn and grow by volunteering to help with the Extreme After-School Program.

The Harford County Bar Foundation (HCBF) will provide a brief Advice Clinic serving women, children, and families in need of immediate free legal advice, assist and identify areas of need, fill out needed forms, and contact support agencies on behalf of the client. They will provide follow up service and direct representation as appropriate.

The Y in Central Maryland provides affordable child care for families in Southern Harford County through theirĀ Riverside Preschool, and their Before and After School Enrichment programs (BASE) at Abingdon Elementary, Deerfield Elementary, Riverside Elementary, and William Paca Elementary.
